Darwin discovering this gave another reason as to how we got here. In a time when a lot of people just believed that god put us here he went against the grain to say that science might have something to do with it. Charles Darwin was the one who discovered it and it started a huge contraversy. We still study it today and it's still just as big of a contraversy as it was back then.
